Featuring Professor Clark and Princess Beatrice

Professor J. T. Clark was a tattoo artist who worked and exhibited with his wife, Princess Beatrice in South Africa, Australia, England, Canada and the United States from the 1890s to 1918. Princess Judy is their granddaughter.

Many photos, letters and designs (flash) have survived in the family and an assortment is displayed on the PrincessJudy.net website. With the exception of some post cards that may have been sold early in the last century, nothing on the site has been published elsewhere.

Professor Clark and Princess Beatrice were contemporaries of George Burchett, Alfred South and Charles Wagner. Professor Clark began tattooing when electronic tattoo machines were first being patented in the United States and England (1894-1904) and was fully tattooed himself as well as being an accomplished artist and tattooing others.
